The proposed excursion includes the approach route to the suggestive Canyon of Gorropu, one of the deepest in Europe. Here it is possible to observe a unique environment in the heart of the Supramonte and appreciate its natural endemisms of extraordinary beauty.
The route starts from s’Abba Arba, following a path parallel to the Flumineddu stream, to then reach the Gorropu gorge. The planned route has a total length of about 14km on a moderate gradient of medium difficulty. Trekking shoes and a minimum of 3 liters of water per person are required. Layered clothing is recommended to cope with any climatic situation. It is recommended to bring at least a waterproof jacket and a packed lunch.
- The total walking time expected for the entire excursion is approximately 7 hours.
- Departure from Sassari/Alghero is scheduled for 8:30 and the maximum number foreseen for this excursion is 8 participants.
It is possible to plan the excursion from a more demanding route, starting from Genna Silana (Strada SS125 “oriental Sardinian”), and then descending towards the canyon through a steeply sloping path . Total length of about 7 km, altitude difference of 650 meters. Same needs as regards the water supply and clothing.
